Chit Fund Editorial Policy
How we research, write, fact-check, and maintain every piece of content on chit.fund — and exactly how we handle commercial relationships.
Our Commitment to You
chit.fund exists for one reason: to give every Indian accurate, independent, and useful information about chit funds. India has an estimated 50 million active chit fund participants and a market worth over ₹3 lakh crore annually — yet reliable, consolidated information about how chit funds work, how to verify operators, and how regulations differ across states has historically been difficult to find.
This editorial policy governs every piece of content on chit.fund — articles, guides, tool outputs, operator listings, comparisons, and personalised recommendations. It explains how content is created, how commercial relationships are handled, and what you should expect from us.
Our content is educational only. Nothing on chit.fund constitutes regulated financial advice, investment recommendations, or legal counsel. Always consult a SEBI-registered financial advisor or qualified CA before making significant financial decisions.
Editorial Standards
Five principles guide every content decision we make.
All factual claims are verified against primary sources: the Chit Funds Act 1982, the Chit Funds (Amendment) Act 2019, state Registrar publications, official government notifications, and audited operator filings. We do not rely solely on secondary summaries or third-party articles.
Editorial decisions are made entirely by our editorial team, with no input from commercial partners, affiliated operators, or advertisers. No chit fund company has ever influenced, reviewed, or approved our editorial content before publication. Rankings and recommendations reflect our independent research.
Every page with an affiliate link is labelled at the top. Paid operator listings are marked “Sponsored.” When we hold an opinion or make a recommendation that could be influenced by a commercial relationship, we disclose that relationship explicitly.
Chit fund regulations change. Our ComplianceBot monitors 9 regulatory sources (6 state portals, SEBI, MCA, RBI) for changes every week. Articles showing a regulation, rate, or cap are reviewed quarterly and updated immediately when the underlying rule changes.
Content is written by, or reviewed by, individuals with backgrounds in personal finance, legal research, or financial journalism. For topics touching on tax treatment, legal liability, or compliance obligations, we cross-reference guidance from chartered accountants and practising lawyers before publication. We cite our sources where external readers may wish to verify claims independently.
Research & Fact-Checking Process
Content Drafting Policy
We use automated tools to assist with research, drafting, and content structuring. We believe in being transparent about this.
- Researching primary sources and synthesising complex legislation
- Drafting initial article structures and explanatory text
- Generating personalised Advisor matches
- Summarising regulatory updates from ComplianceBot monitoring
- Publish content without human review and approval
- Make final editorial judgements about operator rankings
- Replace legal or financial professional verification
- Generate content that could constitute regulated financial advice
Automated drafts require human editorial review and approval before being made public. The human editor is responsible for factual accuracy and editorial standards. AI is a tool to improve our research efficiency and content quality — not a replacement for editorial judgement.
Affiliate & Commercial Relationships
chit.fund earns revenue through two commercial mechanisms. We describe both fully here so you can make an informed decision about how much weight to give our recommendations.
Some operator listings, comparison pages, and “Get Started” buttons on chit.fund include affiliate links. If you click one of these links and subsequently sign up to the operator’s platform or scheme, we may receive a referral commission from the operator. This commission is paid by the operator — it does not increase the cost of the chit fund or the scheme you join in any way.
Disclosure rule: Every page that contains affiliate links displays a notice at the top of the page: “This page contains affiliate links. We may earn a commission if you sign up through these links, at no cost to you.” This notice appears regardless of whether the affiliate link appears above or below the fold.
We may in future offer premium directory placement to registered chit fund operators. All commercial relationships that may influence editorial content are disclosed. Paid operators are not guaranteed positive reviews and editorial coverage is determined by independent research, not by their subscription status.
